What should I expect?

Coping Craft Club is for kids ages 6-9ish. We recommend this group for children who are entering 1st-4th grade. If you aren’t sure it’s a good fit for your child, please reach out and we can talk through it with you! In a typical group, Hailee will give a short but fun lesson about a feeling and a coping skill. Then, children will have the opportunity to create a craft to take home that will complement the lesson. Last, children will have the opportunity to identify a challenge for themselves to practice identifying and coping with feelings in the coming week.

Glowing Through It is for girls ages 12-15ish. We recommend this group for girls who are entering 7th-10th grade. If you aren’t sure it’s a good fit for your daughter, please reach out and we can talk through it with you! In a typical group, girls will have the opportunity to connect with one another about the highs and lows of the week. Alexa will offer therapeutic support and will use the conversation to teach about feelings, thoughts, and coping skills. Girls will have the opportunity to identify ways they will practice healthy coping and check back in the following week on how it went. Our goal is for this group to become a place where teenage girls can practice healthy friendship skills, talk about and connect over the amazing and challenging things about being this age, and learn skillful ways to navigate the tough stuff. Think of it like a mental, emotional, and relational glow up!

Who should join this group?

These small groups are for children and adolescents who are interested in learning more about feelings and how to manage them. There is no requirement to talk or share in groups - you have the choice to quietly listen if that is more comfortable to you. Groups are often a great way to hear how others are feeling or experiencing the same things and for learning new ways to cope with tough stuff.

You do not need to be a therapy client at Driftwood to participate, although we welcome our clients to join! We hope this will be a low-pressure way for kids and teens to interact with each other and a therapist. If you or your child has been hesitant or curious about therapy, this could be a great way to try it out!

How much does it cost?

Group registration is $200 for June, which includes 5 group meetings and cost of supplies and a light snack.

What if I can’t make it every week?

The groups do not build on each other, so it’s ok if you have to miss a week. Just like gymnastics, dance, or other activities, we charge monthly and are not able to prorate the cost if you can’t make it every week. We hope you can come all of the sessions to get the full experience, but we understand that things conflict sometimes!
